You know, everyone talks about Islamic people being crazy, but they fail to realize that it isn't the religion that leads these people to do things we find unacceptable...
But I do want to explore the idea behind the honor killing in terms of Christianity.
[23:47] Neptune: I wanna defame religion some xP
This is a story idea:
The story follows Daniel Peter Wolfe, who's wife died mysteriously only a few years after giving birth to their daughter, Mary Wolfe. Daniel is a Conversative Christian Republican with very headstrong beliefs. He is also the Senator of Maine, and an upcoming canidate for president. He is a very "homely" man, who advocates a return to family values. He avidly avoids discussions that could bring his beliefs on darker issues into the playing field, allowing him to become quite popular with the masses.
The real view of his character doesn't come to light until a reporter, Emilia Weston, becomes a witness to Daniel's murder of Mary Wolfe, supposedly an honor killing of sorts. The court cases that follow act to reveal the evil that has been disguised within this middle aged man, even when his wife's death is called to question as a car accident, alledging things like murder by Daniel or suicide under the oppressive conditions of his psyche. His nature is further called into question when Mary's own corpse is called as evidence seeing old scarring that she couldn't have possibly inflicted on herself. Daniel finally explains that she was a sinful child and he was just trying to set her on the path to righteousness that he was on.
"So, can you tell us why you killed Mary Wolfe?"
"Please, I dislike using the word 'kill' here."
"What would you prefer to call it, then?"
"I was simply bringing God's just judgement upon her."
"Judgement for what, senator?"
"For her sins as one of God's followers."
"And what sins did she commit?"
"She failed to remain celibate before marriage."
"And that called for judgement of this calibur??"
"Yes. She was a very sinful child and I could not have her choices leading her to Hell when I am her father. Her death will be taken as retribution and she will recieve a lighter punishment in her fate."
"So you were doing her a favor? Mercy, maybe?"
"Yes."
Which leads to the upheaval of his reputation, and finally being put to death. The few who still follow him protest outside of the courthouses. While some of the people simply label Daniel as evil himself and a failure to Christian ideals, they fail to realize the deeper meaning behind the issue with Daniel Wolfe that embodied how the same beliefs used to advocate justice and purity can be turned into beliefs that are used to follow cruelty and obsession under the former's name.
"...and evil always came to me diguised by systems and dignified by law." (from The Lords of Discipline by Pat Conroy)
